• Hi, I’m Ioana, the owner of PrivateMath.com and the only tutor behind the business.

I work one‑on‑one with middle school, high school, and college students in Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Parkland, Ft. Lauderdale and surroundings who need help with math. Whether that’s catching up on the basics, getting through Algebra or Geometry, or preparing for big exams like the SAT, ACT, AP math tests, PERT, and Accuplacer I help with all.

When you contact PrivateMath.com, you don’t get a call center or a rotating list of tutors. You get me.

    How I Got Into Tutoring

I’ve always been the person friends and classmates came to when math stopped making sense. Over time, I noticed something: most students weren’t struggling because they were “bad at math.” They were struggling because no one had taken the time to explain why things work, only how to follow the steps.

That’s what pushed me to build a tutoring practice that focuses on understanding first, formulas second. I started working with a few local students, word spread, and over the years I’ve helped many Boca Raton families lower stress at home and raise math grades at school.

    My Approach

My style is calm, direct, and very practical. I’m not interested in showing off how much math I know; I’m interested in making sure your child understands what they need to succeed.

    In our sessions, we typically:

    - Connect class notes, homework, and tests so students see the bigger picture.

    - Fill in missing skills from earlier grades that are quietly causing problems now.

    - Talk through problems out loud so I can hear how a student is thinking.

    - Break multi‑step questions into smaller, manageable pieces.

    - Practice with realistic test and exam questions, not just random worksheets.

I adjust the pace to the student—sometimes that means slowing way down and rebuilding the foundation, and sometimes it means pushing ahead and challenging a student who’s ready for more.

    Who I Work With

    I regularly tutor:

    - Middle school students who need a stronger foundation with basic skills, fractions, word problems, and pre‑algebra.

    - High school students in Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Pre‑Calculus and Calculus.

    - College students taking college algebra, pre‑calculus, calculus.

    - Students preparing for the PSAT, SAT, ACT, CLT, AP Calculus, PERT, Accuplacer, and end‑of‑course math exams.

Some of my students come to me because they’re failing; others are aiming for top scores and competitive colleges. The common thread is that they want math to feel clearer and less stressful.

    What Parents Usually Notice

After a few weeks of consistent tutoring, parents often tell me they see:

    - Fewer arguments about math homework.

    - Less panic before quizzes and tests.

    - More willingness to try challenging problems instead of giving up right away.

    - A slow but steady climb in grades and confidence.

My goal is not just to fix this week’s homework. I want your child to walk into their next class—or their next school year—feeling more capable and less afraid of math.

A Bit More About My Background

Education: B.A. in Business administration from Babes Bolyai University in Romania.

Experience: more then 10 years of private math tutoring with students from local Boca Raton and nearby schools.

Familiar with Florida standards, local school curricula, and common online platforms (FLVS, Khan Academy, MyMathLab, ALEKS, etc.)

    Let’s Talk About Your Student

If you’re in Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Parkland, Highland Beach, Ft. Lauderdale and you’re looking for a private math tutor who works with your child instead of just talking at them, I’d be happy to talk.

You can reach me directly through the contact form on PrivateMath.com or by calling 561-808-3288. Tell me a bit about your child’s situation, and we’ll see if I’m a good fit. I usually recommend a free first session where I can asses the student knowledge and come up with a plan for tutoring.

My goal is simple: less stress, more understanding, better results—one student at a time.
