College Math
College math can get overwhelming very quickly. Whether it’s a required math class for your major or a course you’re just trying to get through, it’s common for students to feel lost after only a few weeks.
I’m the owner and sole tutor at PrivateMath.com, and I work one‑on‑one with college students in Boca Raton who need clear, patient help with: College Algebra, Pre‑Calculus, Calculus, Math placement test prep (PERT, CLT, Accuplacer, ALEKS, etc.)
When you contact PrivateMath.com, you work directly with me, not a rotating group of tutors. My job is to help you understand the material, get unstuck, and raise your exam scores without wasting time on things you don’t really need.
Many college students reach out to me because:
-The professor goes too fast and office hours are crowded or hard to attend.
-Online homework systems (like MyLab, WebAssign, ALEKS) mark answers wrong, but don’t really explain why.
-They did “okay” in high school math but feel completely lost in college algebra or calculus.
-They’re retaking a course and don’t want to repeat the same mistakes.
-A placement test or required math class is blocking them from moving forward in their program.
If any of that sounds familiar, you’re not alone—and it’s exactly what I work on with students every week.
My approach is straightforward and practical. In a typical session, we might:
-Go through your current class topics.
-We look at lecture notes, worksheets, online assignments, or past quizzes and connect the dots so you actually see what’s going on behind the formulas.
-Break down tough concepts into plain language.
-Limits, derivatives and logarithms —whatever the topic, I explain it step by step and check that you truly understand, not just copy.
-Work through representative problems together.
We start with easier examples so you can get your footing, then build up to the kinds of problems that are likely to appear on your quizzes and exams.
A big part of college math tutoring is targeted test prep. We review past tests (when available), identify common question types, and create a focused plan for what to review before exam day.
Tackle online homework and show the “why,” not just the answer
I don’t just tell you which button to press; I show you how to think about the problem so you’re not stuck when the question changes slightly on the test.
